Two times a year, once in the spring and once in the fall, Village residents are invited to set out curbside limbs, and sticks. Brush must be in a neat stack with cut ends facing the curb. Any piles with trash, wire, roots with dirt, or other none woody yard waste will not be picked up. Maintenance staff will go up and down each street and alley in the Village chipping. Residents can request as much of the resulting mulch as they would like as long as supplies last.
Is there a particularly pesky pothole that is driving you (and your car) crazy? Please let us know about it. The Village maintenance staff is committed to making sure our streets are as drivable as possible but once in awhile they might miss one. Please let us know and we will put it on the list for repair.
Annually the Village loosely sponsors a Village-wide garage sale. The sale traditionally occurs on the second weekend in June. It is up to each individual resident to decide if he/she wants to set up shop on Saturday, Sunday or both days. The Village takes responsibility for modest advertising – the rest is up to you.
In 2007, the Village of South Charleston entered into a partnership with the Clark County Solid Waste Management District to provide free recycling for residents. Recycling bins are available at Town Hall along with information about how to separate and prepare materials for recycling. The containers are located at Southwest Landmark along Woodward Street.
From time to time, the Village of South Charleston coordinates special, large-item recycling opportunities for Village residents, and the Clark County Recycling Center, located at 1602 W. Main Street in Springfield, accepts a wide variety of difficult-to-recycle materials daily.
